The Philippine Department of Justice (DOJ) has officially initiated the preliminary investigation procedure for the murder case involving Chinese-Filipino entrepreneur Anson Que and his driver. The case had previously attracted widespread attention due to its brutal modus operandi and the large amount of money involved.
It has been revealed that all five suspects have appeared at the DOJ's pre-trial conference, marking a critical phase in the case. Anson Que, a Chinese-Filipino entrepreneur, was kidnapped and murdered along with his driver in April by unidentified individuals, shocking the entire Chinese community.
Police investigations have indicated that the suspects had demanded a large ransom, killed the two after receiving it, and used e-wallets for money laundering activities, with some of the funds being traced to accounts suspected to be related to POGO.
Currently, the prosecution is consolidating the following key evidence:
- Confessions of the suspects and identification of the crime scene;
- Mobile phone and chat communication records;
- Wire transfer and e-wallet transaction records.
Based on this evidence, the DOJ will further assess whether to bring multiple serious charges against the suspects, including kidnapping, murder, money laundering, and violations of the Anti-Organized Crime Law.
