A 17-year-old girl sold her boyfriend to a scam operation in Myanmar for 100,000 yuan, and his family spent 350,000 yuan to bring him back.

In February 2025, a 19-year-old young man from Zhanjiang, Guangdong, named Xiao Huang, was sold by his 17-year-old live-in girlfriend, Xiao Zhou, to a cyber fraud park in Myanmar for 100,000 yuan. Upon entering the park, Xiao Huang was shaved bald, locked in a dark room, and forced to engage in scam activities daily. If he failed to meet the performance targets, he was beaten severely, even sustaining injuries to his ears that affected his hearing.

It is reported that Xiao Huang met Xiao Zhou in a billiard hall in 2024. Xiao Zhou falsely claimed that her family had business in Myanmar and persuaded Xiao Huang to go there to work. After being deceived into the park, Xiao Huang's family coordinated with the Myanmar Teochew Chamber of Commerce and ultimately paid 350,000 yuan to redeem him. He returned to China in June 2025. After selling her boyfriend, Xiao Zhou traveled in Thailand for ten days and was detained by the police upon her return to China. She is currently suspected of fraud, and the case was originally scheduled for a hearing at the end of July but has been postponed once and is expected to be tried soon.

Xiao Huang's sister stated that her brother was a typical "love-brained" person, and Xiao Zhou deliberately packaged herself to lure him to Myanmar. Lawyer Chen Songtao pointed out that if Xiao Zhou knew her boyfriend would be forced into scamming, she might be guilty of joint fraud. However, since she is a minor, her punishment could be reduced. Additionally, as Xiao Huang is a 19-year-old male, he does not fall under the protection of the "crime of trafficking women and children" as stipulated by our country's criminal law, thus not constituting this crime.
