In Taichung, 8 people were deceived by the lure of "free travel to Thailand" and flew from Taoyuan Airport to Bangkok. Upon arrival, they were immediately transferred by a scam group to a scam park in Myawaddy, Myanmar.

Among them, three elderly women, who were not adept at using electronic devices, were asked to pay a ransom of 300,000 New Taiwan Dollars each for their release and return to Taiwan; the remaining five young people, deemed to have "scam utility value," were sold to the park, and their fate remains unknown to this day.

According to those released, upon arrival in Myanmar, they were guarded by mainland Chinese personnel, and any resistance was met with beatings. After conducting "interviews" with the group members, the scam group sold the five young people to the scam park, while the three women were asked to pay a ransom. Two of them paid 400,000 and 650,000 New Taiwan Dollars respectively, and another was returned to Taiwan with the help of the police.

Currently, the five young people sold are forced to engage in illegal activities such as cryptocurrency investment scams and must achieve a performance of 500,000 US dollars to be released. Their mobile phones are kept under centralized control, and one male who tried to contact his girlfriend was discovered, beaten severely, and detained.

The Myawaddy area has long been a stronghold for scam groups, with multiple scam parks, and victims often come from Taiwan, mainland China, Malaysia, and other places. Experts advise the public to be wary of temptations like "free travel" and "high-paying jobs" to avoid falling into transnational scam traps.
