A 23-year-old Sydney man is set to appear in Bankstown Local Court, charged with orchestrating an online gambling scam involving over $2 million.

Police allege the man conducted the scam through a fictitious online gambling platform, causing significant financial losses to 14 victims. Investigations revealed that the scam resulted in total losses exceeding $2 million, with victims receiving no returns after placing bets on the platform.

The case has been under investigation by the New South Wales Police since August 2023, with nearly two years of ongoing tracking and extensive evidence collection. It is understood that the man also used fake documents to mislead investors and deceitfully obtained financial benefits during the scam.

The man was arrested in Bankstown, southwest Sydney, and has been formally charged with 14 criminal offenses, including dishonestly obtaining benefits, forgery, and attempting to profit through threatening means.

The police stated that the investigation is still ongoing, and more victims or involved parties may emerge. The man is expected to formally face court proceedings.
