Recently, there have been frequent raids on the residences of Chinese communities in the Philippines, orchestrated by law enforcement in collaboration with "Chinese translators". On the surface, it appears to be law enforcement, but it is actually a premeditated extortion scheme—translators and law enforcement officers set traps together, aiming to drain all the assets of the victims.
Victims describe that once the raid begins, the so-called "translator" takes over communication immediately, takes photos for evidence, and sends people to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) office in Pasay, Manila, overnight on the grounds of serious involvement. This is followed by a series of threats: threats of deportation, imprisonment, and even claims of contacting the embassy, "Your boss can't save you," forcing the victims to mentally collapse and voluntarily transfer money for "self-protection".
What's worse, the translator controls the victim's phone throughout the process, opens WeChat, Alipay, digital wallets, USDT accounts, empties the balance, and then demands the uninstallation of apps or reformatting of the phone, completely cutting off any external channels for help. If the victim's assets are not completely drained, they even continue to threaten with court summons, transfers to other detention places like Alabang or Muntinlupa, until there is nothing left to extract.
If the target is a "company bookie", their scheme is even more ruthless: they raid the office, take photos for evidence, and then directly demand a "ransom" from the person in charge, amounting to thirty million pesos. During this, they continuously apply pressure to create panic, trapping the person in a mental dilemma of "pay or go to jail", forcing them to borrow money from relatives or even sell cars and houses to raise funds.
It is infuriating that even if the money is paid as demanded, freedom is not guaranteed. Insiders reveal that some have been extorted for millions of pesos and still got deported, losing both their money and their safety. Some have been extorted multiple times until they were penniless, only then to be "processed" for deportation.
This type of case is not isolated in the Philippines. Insiders remind all Chinese workers in the Philippines to stay alert, not to trust verbal promises from translators or law enforcement officers, to remain calm during raids, and to avoid immediate transfers of money. The "wild dog push" group is already on the edge of legality, and once trapped, they are easily bankrupted.
Currently, in places like Clark, Pasay, and Batangas, several suspected targets have been identified, and the situation is very tense. It is advised for Chinese workers to keep a low profile, stay away from Filipino gatherings, avoid ordering takeout, frequent outings, and try to cook for themselves to reduce exposure risks.
The most important point: if caught, it's better to be deported than to pay money! Because once the money is handed over, you might not be able to escape, but instead, you might be extorted repeatedly until you are left with nothing. The endgame of this "inside job trap" is to drain your wallet and then kick you out of the Philippines. Do not become the next victim.
