On June 18, 2025, the Philippine police launched a raid in San Rafael City, Bulacan Province, dismantling a transnational cyber fraud hub hidden in a remote warehouse and arresting 10 Chinese suspects on the spot.
The police stated that the gang had been operating secretly in a "guerrilla mode" for a long time, specifically using online platforms to commit telecommunications fraud against victims abroad. The methods included fake investments, gambling traps, and impersonating law enforcement officials to carry out remittance fraud, involving huge amounts of money.
This operation stemmed from multiple reports and long-term surveillance, with police deploying a large number of officers for a surprise assault on the target location, successfully controlling all individuals present. A large amount of crime tools were seized at the scene, including laptops, mobile phones, bank cards, fake IDs, and pre-set fraud scripts.
The police preliminarily judged that this gang might only be part of a larger criminal network, and are currently investigating the underlying organizational structure and the flow of funds. The 10 suspects have been taken to the police station for interrogation, and the related cases will be processed according to Philippine law.
The Philippine police stated that they will continue to intensify efforts to crack down on transnational cyber fraud activities, resolutely eliminate domestic fraud dens, and also urged the public to be wary of strange calls, fake investments, and high-return inducements to prevent falling into fraud schemes.
