Led by international philanthropist and economist Dr. Gloria Herndon, a new online casino platform is set to officially launch in Kenya. Operated by Top Deck Entertainment, the platform is licensed and developed in collaboration with Humanitarian Gaming International (HGI) and Electronic Gaming Solutions (EGS), aiming to create a gambling project that combines entertainment with social responsibility.
Unlike traditional gambling projects, this platform places a greater emphasis on community protection and engagement, featuring various responsible gambling tools to ensure player safety. Dr. Herndon emphasized, "This is not just a business plan, but a reinvestment mechanism that can generate income and give back to society."
The platform will allocate a portion of its profits to support local medical, educational, and youth development projects in Kenya, using gambling revenues to nourish society and promote sustainable charitable projects. HGI and EGS will provide game content, platform governance, and operational support to ensure the project progresses steadily on a regulatory compliant basis.
This move comes at a time when Kenyan regulations are becoming stricter. At the end of April, the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) implemented a 30-day gambling advertisement ban; by the end of May, the Communications Authority had fined nine television stations for airing illegal gambling content. Additionally, celebrities and internet influencers are prohibited from participating in gambling promotions.
In this context, the philanthropic platform launched by Top Deck Entertainment is seen as an important attempt for the African gambling industry to transition towards responsibility and public welfare.
