According to the Bangkok Post, police in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand, recently raided a hidden illegal casino in the Bang Yai district, arresting 54 suspects and seizing over 218,000 Thai Baht in cash along with numerous gambling devices.
This operation was carried out by a joint team of police and local administrative officials, who launched the raid on Wednesday based on reliable intelligence. The target was a warehouse residence about one rai in size located at Soi Kaeo In, which had been converted into a gambling den. The warehouse was enclosed with a three-meter-high zinc fence and was equipped with air conditioning and full facilities, clearly indicating a long-term underground gambling operation.
After climbing over the fence, police entered the premises and found dozens of people gambling, immediately taking control of 46 Thai nationals and 8 foreigners. Evidence collected at the scene included cash, gambling devices, and gambling tables.
Kiattisak Trongsiri, the governor of Nonthaburi Province, stated that this raid was part of a series of actions to combat illegal gambling activities within the province, and the government will continue to crack down on such illegal activities. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to reconstruct the operation cycle of the casino and the organizational structure behind it.
The police revealed that all those arrested will face criminal charges, and authorities are also assessing whether to involve the Anti-Money Laundering Act in the investigation to further trace the source and flow of funds.
