On the evening of June 26, a thrilling shooting incident occurred in the "Little Tokyo" area of Makati City. Two Chinese nationals attacked a Filipino businessman with guns in the parking lot of a shopping mall on Amorsolo Street. Fortunately, the target was not hit, and the victim was unharmed. The police intercepted and arrested the two suspects within two minutes of the incident.
That evening, as the Filipino businessman was about to leave in his car, a man wearing a hat suddenly approached the car door and fired four shots at him before fleeing the scene. The victim managed to escape urgently without being hit.
The gunman then jumped into a sedan driven by an accomplice in an attempt to escape, but was intercepted by patrol police just a hundred meters away at the intersection of Anais Avenue and Paseo de Roxas. The police recovered three handguns, several knives, a hammer, and tape at the scene, suspected to be tools used in the crime.
The two suspects, aged 44 and 36, both Chinese nationals, have been formally arrested and will face multiple charges including attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms. The victim businessman stated that he did not know the two individuals and had no prior disputes with them, leaving the motive for the shooting unclear.
The police are conducting an in-depth investigation to determine if the incident involves hired killing, business conflicts, or is related to disputes over POGO online gambling. This case has also raised high concerns about foreigners involved in gun-related crimes.
