The Chinese Embassy in Thailand recently confirmed that a Chinese male model, Zhong Haobin, who was trapped in a telecom fraud park in Myanmar, has been successfully rescued after coordination from multiple parties. The incident has attracted widespread social attention and has once again sounded the alarm about the trap of "high-paying jobs abroad".
It is reported that Zhong was deceived into the Myanmar fraud park from Thailand by believing in "high-paying overseas model" recruitment information and lost his freedom. After learning about the situation, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand immediately activated the emergency mechanism, and in cooperation with Thai and local Myanmar forces, conducted multiple rounds of communication and coordination, eventually facilitating Zhong's safe escape.
The Chinese Consulate in Thailand takes this opportunity to emphasize that recently, telecom fraud groups have been active in the northern Myanmar and Golden Triangle areas, using "high-paying recruitment" as a guise to lure job seekers to illegal parks to control them, even involving detention and coercion. Chinese citizens must be highly vigilant and should not trust unfamiliar intermediaries or unverified overseas job opportunities.
At the same time, the embassy reminds that any work activity in Thailand must be legally permitted. Without legal procedures, one may face legal consequences such as deportation or detention.
The incident has also sparked heated discussions among netizens. Many point out that similar incidents have been common in recent years, from "working abroad" to "model recruitment", with scams constantly being updated, but essentially many are cross-border telecom fraud traps.
