Cambodia continues to aggressively push forward in combating online fraud and illegal gambling, destroying 52 fraud dens and arresting 2767 suspects within 23 days, including 843 Chinese citizens. The Chinese government has promised to expedite the repatriation of Chinese nationals involved, marking a new phase in Sino-Cambodian transnational law enforcement cooperation.

On July 20, Cambodian State Minister and Secretary-General of the National Committee for Counteracting Online Fraud, Chhay Sinarith, met with Yin Guohai, the Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, in Phnom Penh. The two sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening the fight against cross-border online fraud and reached important consensus.

Yin Guohai, on behalf of China, highly commended Cambodia's recent rectification achievements, emphasizing that China will continue to fully support Cambodian actions in law enforcement, intelligence, and technology. He reiterated that the repatriation of Chinese citizens involved in online fraud is a priority task for China, which will be handled promptly and efficiently to ensure lawful, safe, and orderly progress.

Chhay Sinarith outlined the Cambodian government's efforts and achievements in combating online fraud in recent years, stating that they will continue to take strict measures and welcome Chinese assistance in joint investigations and law enforcement training to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.

Both parties agreed that they will deepen cooperation in intelligence sharing, joint investigations, and coordinated law enforcement in the future, aiming to precisely target dens and swiftly arrest suspects, and to legally advance prosecution processes.

According to data released by the Cambodian National Committee for Counteracting Online Fraud, from June 27 to July 19, 52 fraud dens were tackled across 15 provinces and cities nationwide, resulting in the arrest of 2767 suspects, including 843 Chinese nationals, with 11 key suspects transferred to court for prosecution. This high-level Sino-Cambodian meeting sends a strong signal: there will be no hiding place for overseas online fraud, and Chinese nationals involved will face seamless repatriation and legal trials. For those still lingering on the edge of the gray industry, the situation is increasingly severe, and the warning bells are already ringing.
