Genius Sports announced a significant agreement with the European Leagues (EL), securing the exclusive distribution rights for official betting data covering over 8,000 men's and women's professional soccer matches across 18 member leagues, spanning 46 top European events.
This multi-year partnership will make Genius Sports the sole provider of these match data to regulated betting companies worldwide. The collaboration also includes the integration of their artificial intelligence platform, GeniusIQ, to enhance match analysis, referee evaluation, team performance tracking, and fan engagement experiences.
GeniusIQ has been deployed in the English Premier League, Belgian and Danish top leagues, and this partnership marks the technology's broader promotion across European events. Covered leagues include the Belgian Pro League, Eredivisie, Primeira Liga, Norwegian Premier League, and Swedish Second Division, involving 34 countries and over 1,170 clubs.
The Secretary-General of the European Leagues, Alberto Colombo, stated that this deal reflects the evolution of the sports data market and the crucial role of technology in the commercialization of football.
Steven Burton, Chief Partnership Officer at Genius Sports, emphasized that this collaboration not only expands the depth of their data services but also represents a shift towards a technology-centered "rights model," opening new commercial and technological growth opportunities for European football.
This partnership is also part of Genius Sports' global strategic layout, following its expansion in the Latin American market, further solidifying its leading position in the global sports data and betting technology sector.
