The Philippine Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination Center (CICC) announced that it has successfully shut down 8,901 illegal online gambling sites so far. Deputy Executive Director Renato "Aboi" Paraiso stated that as law enforcement efforts continue to strengthen, this number is expected to rise further.
Paraiso pointed out in an interview with the national television PTV that CICC is actively targeting and combating illegal gambling and cyber fraud websites, while strengthening collaboration with other government agencies, focusing on rectifying illegal online recruitment and fraud activities. He revealed that multiple departments are involved in joint actions and plans to cooperate with the Philippine Department of Labor soon to investigate and block online recruitment scams.
Last month, CICC also began issuing accountability notices to social media influencers who continue to promote illegal online gambling, demonstrating an upgrade and expansion of law enforcement actions. CICC emphasizes that these measures aim to ensure public fund safety, prevent the proliferation of cyber fraud, and maintain a healthy order in the Philippine online gambling market.
