The well-known Philippine casino "Solaire Resort" parent company—Bloomberry Resorts Corporation—announced its financial report, revealing a net loss of 1.4 billion pesos in the second quarter of 2025, a significant reversal from the 1.3 billion pesos profit of the same period last year. The company attributed the main reason to the sharp decrease in the number of VIP and high-end mass market gamblers. Chairman and CEO Enrique K. Razon Jr. admitted that the continued slump in VIP and high-end mass market business put pressure on the performance.
However, the newly opened "Solaire North" performed well, with mass gaming volume and non-gaming revenue increasing quarter-over-quarter, driving an 18% and 37% year-over-year growth in Manila's mass gaming and non-gaming businesses, respectively.
Data shows that total gaming revenue in the second quarter was 14.3 billion pesos, down 1% year-over-year; non-gaming revenue increased by 35% to 3.2 billion pesos, mainly driven by the expansion of Solaire North. In June this year, the company also quietly launched the online gaming platform "MegaFUNalo!", planning to introduce more gameplay options in the future.
Looking at the business segments, Solaire Resort's total gaming revenue plummeted by 27% to 9.8 billion pesos, with the VIP business experiencing the largest decline; Solaire North generated 4.5 billion pesos, quadrupling year-over-year, benefiting from increased transactions in regular gaming tables and electronic gaming machines.
