According to "Dialogue Pakistan", a court in Lahore ruled to extend the detention period of well-known YouTuber Saad ur Rehman (internet name Ducky Bhai) by four days to continue investigating his case involving the alleged promotion of illegal online gambling applications.
Rehman was arrested on August 17 at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport while attempting to leave the country. He was then transferred to the judicial magistrate. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) requested an extension of the investigation period, and despite the defense's opposition, the court ultimately approved the application.
The case was filed by the NCCIA, citing several provisions of the 2016 Electronic Crimes Prevention Act, including electronic forgery, electronic fraud, spam, and false advertising. It also involves charges under the Pakistan Penal Code related to deception and illegal offering of prizes.
It is reported that after Rehman's arrest, he was initially detained for two days during which authorities reportedly seized suspicious financial transaction records and evidence of promotional activities related to gambling applications. Since he had not responded to a summons earlier, his name had been placed on a temporary national identity recognition list. Law enforcement also claimed to have retrieved communications and documents during the investigation that showed his managerial role on a gambling platform.
The next hearing of the case is scheduled for September 1, at which time the NCCIA is expected to submit further investigation findings.
