The Royal Thai Police recently suggested that the public, when encountering social media scams, can collect the scammer's Facebook URL link to provide strong evidence for the prosecution of call center gangs.
Major General Siriwat Deepor, the deputy spokesperson, stated that cybercrimes, especially those carried out through platforms like Facebook, pose a threat to public safety. Investigation data shows that criminals commonly use Facebook as their main channel of operation.
The police advise citizens to copy the URL at the top of the browser when accessing the scammer's profile page on a computer and save a screenshot of the page; on mobile devices, click the "..." button, scroll down to the bottom of the page to save the URL and screenshot.
This collected evidence can be used for online complaints or to report to the local police station, assisting investigators in effectively prosecuting the criminals. If you encounter online fraud, you can submit a report online at www.thaipoliceonline.go.th, or call the 24-hour hotlines 1441 and 191 for assistance.
