DigiPlus Philippines makes a move: Embedding responsible gambling into product DNA, to be fully implemented by 2026.

While the online gambling market in the Philippines is advancing rapidly, balancing commercial expansion with social responsibility has become a mandatory question for all players. Recently, at the G2E Asia industry event, DigiPlus Interactive Corp. introduced a "hardcore" plan, claiming to shift the concept of responsible gambling from passive compliance checks to proactive product design.

Erick Su, head of the company's sports betting platform ArenaPlus, was quite straightforward at the event: "The line drawn by regulators is just the minimum standard. The 24/7 online nature of digital gambling forces us to think further ahead and act earlier." In his view, it's too late to remedy industry issues once they surface; real effort must be made before risks emerge.

From "baseline compliance" to "proactive defense" core philosophy
DigiPlus proposed a comprehensive framework covering "education, prevention, intervention, and support treatment" four major components. The core logic is clear: changing from "post-firefighting" to "pre-fire prevention". The company plans to implement this system across all its platforms including BingoPlus and ArenaPlus starting from 2026. This is not just talk, but a plan to embed the responsibility gene directly into the product code.

Technology-driven risk control "three-layer net"
How exactly? First, at the very start of user registration, a defense line is established. Through a strict KYC (Know Your Customer) process, minors and restricted groups are kept out, while various responsible gambling tools are placed in the most prominent position, not hidden in lengthy terms.
The key step involves data. With user consent, the platform uses behavioral analysis technology to continuously monitor betting patterns and dynamically identify potential "over-the-top" abnormal signals. Once the system detects a risk, it automatically triggers an intervention, guiding users to use built-in "brake" tools, such as setting betting limits, deposit limits, or taking a "cooling-off period".
For a minority of users assessed as high-risk, the platform also provides a clear self-exclusion path and plans to try to build a more comprehensive support network within the legal framework, in collaboration with regulatory bodies like PAGCOR and external professional organizations.

A stress test of industry maturity
DigiPlus's high-profile announcement of its responsible gambling roadmap is seen as a key signal of the Philippine online entertainment industry's move towards maturity. As the market pie grows larger, scrutiny from regulators and society will inevitably become more stringent. Whether a risk control system that can withstand scrutiny can be established while pursuing growth may determine how far a company can go. Whether this "proactive control" model starting from the product source can become a new industry benchmark, PASA's official website will continue to monitor its actual implementation in 2026.
