On the afternoon of January 13th, the police in Nakhon Nayok Province, Thailand, in collaboration with the national security departments, launched a raid and successfully dismantled an illegal gambling den hidden within a fish pond, capturing 38 individuals involved in gambling and seizing over 60,000 Thai Baht in cash. Surprisingly, the operator of the gambling operation was only 23 years old. More cases can be found on the PASA official website.

Tip-offs lead undercover officers to the gambling den

The operation originated from public tip-offs. Residents reported that a house without a house number in Samut Town, Wengkara County, had been hosting large gambling gatherings, severely disturbing the local community. To verify the situation, the police sent undercover officers disguised as gamblers to infiltrate and confirmed the existence of illegal poker gambling activities in the fish pond residence, involving a large number of participants, and immediately finalized the raid plan.

At around 4 PM, law enforcement officers surrounding the area revealed their identities and encircled the venue. The gamblers scattered in panic, but the police quickly sealed all exits and successfully controlled all individuals involved in gambling, with no unexpected conflicts occurring.

23-year-old dealer operates, gamblers from various provinces gather

Upon investigation, the 23-year-old Supana (pseudonym) from Surat Thani Province was found to be the core dealer of the gambling operation, responsible for dealing cards and managing the scene; the 28-year-old homeowner Parani (pseudonym) provided the venue and organized the gambling. Both confessed on the spot.

The 38 arrested suspects came from provinces including Saraburi and Pathum Thani, including a Laotian national, truly a "cross-regional gathering for gambling." All were charged with "illegal assembly for gambling without a permit and gambling with property as stakes" and have been transferred to Wengkara Police Station for processing.

Seized items revealed, relentless crackdown on gambling

The 24 items seized at the scene included 61,000 Thai Baht in cash, 3 sets of plastic playing cards, gambling table mats, chips, timers, and other complete gambling equipment, as well as tables and chairs used for gambling.

The police emphasized that illegal gambling is a "cancer" eroding community security. This raid on the fish pond gambling den is just one part of ongoing enforcement actions. In the future, they will increase patrols and enforcement efforts, leaving no room for various illegal gambling activities to survive, and fully maintaining social order.
