The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) recently issued a statement officially clarifying that it has no association with the gambling website phlove.org, and pointed out that the website has not been authorized by the authority, and its claim to hold a Maltese gambling license is completely false.
MGA noted that phlove.org unauthorizedly uses the name and logo of the regulatory body, misleading consumers to believe it is a legally operating platform. In response, MGA sternly declared that the website has neither obtained a license nor applied for any relevant licenses from the authority, and its activities do not belong to the regulated gambling market of Malta.
In the statement, MGA reminds the public: "Before participating in any online gambling services, please be sure to verify the platform's licensing status. Operators without a license cannot provide consumer protection mechanisms, are not subject to regulatory supervision, and participating in them involves high risks."
This statement is consistent with a series of recent measures by MGA to strengthen regulation and consumer protection. Earlier this year, the authority also revoked the license of GoldWin Gaming, citing non-compliance with local regulatory requirements, further demonstrating MGA's firm stance in maintaining market credibility.
MGA emphasizes that only licensed operators are required to adhere to strict compliance standards, including responsible gambling, anti-money laundering procedures, and technical audits, among other key terms, to ensure substantial protection of player interests. The regulatory body stated that it will continue to monitor similar violations to prevent illegal websites from misusing MGA's reputation to mislead consumers.
This move not only aims to enhance the transparency of Malta's gambling market but also intends to send a clear message to the international market: Malta does not allow any unauthorized platforms to engage in illegal gambling activities under the guise of regulation.
