America's leading daily fantasy sports (DFS) platform PrizePicks is accelerating its national expansion, having recently obtained legal operating licenses in both Maine and Puerto Rico. Notably, PrizePicks has become the first DFS operator licensed in Puerto Rico, a milestone that extends its jurisdictional footprint to 47 regions in the US.
PrizePicks' core product, "Arena", is a game based on a "pick and predict" mechanism, where users can make predictions about athletes' performances in games and win prizes if their predictions are accurate. The game has officially launched in Maine and is expected to enter the Puerto Rican market in the coming months.
Adam Packer, Senior Vice President of Legal and Compliance at PrizePicks, stated: "We have seen positive feedback from players on Arena in multiple states, and we believe this momentum will continue in Puerto Rico." This licensing further solidifies PrizePicks' industry-leading position in compliant operations and responsible gaming.
It is worth mentioning that PrizePicks has also become the first DFS platform to be certified through the "Internet Compliance Assessment Program," highlighting its commitment to consumer protection and responsible gaming.
Although the gameplay of PrizePicks is quite similar to traditional prop betting, which has sparked internal industry debates, it consistently maintains its position as a DFS category rather than a gambling platform, actively pursuing legalization.
Headquartered in Atlanta, PrizePicks announced last year that it plans to expand nationwide and create 1,000 jobs over the next seven years. With the addition of Maine and Puerto Rico, this growth plan is steadily progressing.
