Cryptocurrency gambling operator BC.Game announced a sponsorship deal with Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) club Kwara United FC, becoming the main sponsor for the team's home and away jerseys for the 2025/26 season. The initial cooperation is for one year, but both parties have the option to extend the partnership.
Under the agreement, the BC.Game brand will appear on Kwara United's jerseys, at their home stadium in Ilorin (which has a capacity of 18,000), and on the club's digital media platforms.
Since its promotion to the top league in 2017, the club has been an important representative of Nigerian football. Notably, under the leadership of John Eriksson (son of the late English manager Sven-Göran Eriksson), Kwara United once qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup in the mid-2000s.
This partnership comes as BC.Game accelerates its expansion in Africa. Last week, the company obtained dual licenses in Kenya through its subsidiary Blockdance Africa, allowing it to operate gambling businesses locally.
However, BC.Game also faces external scrutiny. Its Curacao operating entity was forced into bankruptcy proceedings after player litigation, and the company revoked its Curacao license at the end of 2024. Nevertheless, the operator insists that the license withdrawal was due to compliance considerations, not financial or legal crises.
This new sponsorship agreement is seen as an important part of BC.Game's sports marketing strategy in Africa and could serve as a springboard for further regional market expansion.
