As the 2025-26 Premier League season officially kicks off this weekend, betting sponsorships continue to dominate the front of jerseys. Despite the Premier League's announcement to ban front-of-shirt betting advertisements from the 2026-27 season, 11 out of the 20 teams this season still have betting sponsors, maintaining the same number as last year.
These sponsors include local brands regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, such as West Ham United's BoyleSports and Brentford's Hollywoodbets, as well as Stake (Everton) which withdrew from the UK market due to marketing controversies and 96 dot com (Burnley) which cannot be used in the UK.
Additionally, clubs like Aston Villa (Betano), Bournemouth (bj88), Crystal Palace (NET88), Fulham (SBOTOP), Nottingham Forest (Bally's), Sunderland (W88), and Wolverhampton Wanderers (DEBET) also retain betting sponsorships on their jerseys.
The gambling industry continues to be the largest sponsorship category on Premier League jerseys with 11 sponsors, followed by the finance, insurance, and banking sectors (3 sponsors) and the aviation industry (2 sponsors). Chelsea's sponsor for this season has not yet been announced.
The Premier League announced a voluntary ban in April 2023, prohibiting front-of-shirt gambling advertisements from the 2026-27 season, but gambling logos can still appear on the sleeves. In contrast, Belgium and the Netherlands have implemented a complete ban, while Italy is considering relaxation to improve the financial situation of clubs.
